Kids Smiles of Washington DC

Kids Smiles is meeting the dental health care needs of Washington, DC’s most vulnerable children. DC’s Ward 7, located east of the Potomac River, has the largest number of children of any ward and lags far behind other wards in indicators such as education and child well-being while leading in the percentage of residents living in poverty and those without a high school degree.

A $1.5 million grant from the DC Department of Health to Kids Smiles and KIPP DC, the program’s public charter school partner, supported the construction of the seven-chair dental clinic.

In its inaugural year, Kids Smiles of DC anticipates serving 1,500 children and adolescents through 4,485 patient visits. Kids Smiles of DC collaborates with KIPP DC, public elementary schools, Head Start centers and many other community groups in and around Ward 7.
